Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A quantity of unframed views of the British Isles including Oxford, Yarmouth, Guernsey and Salisbury (one illustrated) by William Alister Macdonald was sold in the British and Continental Watercolours auction at Christies in London in October 2006. The price achieved of GBP 720.00 (€ 1,075.74) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Admittedly, works by William Alister Macdonald have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Views of the Island of Tahiti in April 2005 with an auction result of GBP 4,800.00 (€ 7,104.70).
