In December 2016 Christies in London held the auction Topographical Pictures, which included the work A house and flame tree by the shore, Tahiti by William Alister Macdonald. The result of GBP 2,500.00 (€ 2,922.91) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Alister Macdonald - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Views of the Island of Tahiti, which sold at auction in April 2005 for GBP 4,800.00 (€ 7,104.70).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Dezember 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion Topographical Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit A house and flame tree by the shore, Tahiti von William Alister Macdonald zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 2.500,00 (€ 2.922,91) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.500,00 – 3.500,00. Für andere Arbeiten von William Alister Macdonald mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Views of the Island of Tahiti beobachtet, die im April 2005 für GBP 4.800,00 (€ 7.104,70) versteigert wurde.
