Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work A summer's afternoon on the Embankment, St Paul's Cathedral in the distance; The Monument; and Early morning in London by William Alister Macdonald was sold in the British, Continental & Russian Pictures auction at Christies in London in March 2007. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,440.00 (€ 2,119.52), 20% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Alister Macdonald - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Views of the Island of Tahiti, which sold at auction in April 2005 for GBP 4,800.00 (€ 7,104.70).

Die Arbeit A summer's afternoon on the Embankment, St Paul's Cathedral in the distance; The Monument; and Early morning in London von William Alister Macdonald wurde im März 2007 in der Auktion British, Continental & Russian Pictures bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.440,00 (€ 2.119,52) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von William Alister Macdonald mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Views of the Island of Tahiti beobachtet, die im April 2005 für GBP 4.800,00 (€ 7.104,70) versteigert wurde.
