Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2018 a collector was able to acquire the work Moonlit Harbor by William Adolphus Knell for USD 1,400.00 (€ 1,235.44). This price was achieved in the auction American Art Online at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Adolphus Knell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The East Indiaman Exeter making for the Ladrone Islands, China, 1805 in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 14,017.01).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Oktober 2018 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Moonlit Harbor von William Adolphus Knell für USD 1.400,00 (€ 1.235,44) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion American Art Online bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Adolphus Knell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The East Indiaman Exeter making for the Ladrone Islands, China, 1805 im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 11.250,00 (€ 14.017,01).
