Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2006 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours, which included the work Off to the fishing grounds by William Adolphus Knell. The price achieved of GBP 504.00 (€ 753.02) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400.00 – 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Adolphus Knell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The East Indiaman Exeter making for the Ladrone Islands, China, 1805 in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 14,017.01).
