NIEVLANDT / FEC . 1610(?); inscribed lower right with possible fragment of old inventory number: 72, and inscribed on reverse of copper plate with old handwritten inventory number: N o 725; stamped on reverse of copper plate with the maker's mark of Pieter Stas, the date 1609, and the coat-of-arms of the city of Antwerp.

Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Capriccio View Of Rome With The Colosseum And Rebecca And Eliezer By A Statue Of Zeus by Willem van Nieulandt the Younger was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 22,500.00 (€ 20,172.14). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem van Nieulandt the Younger achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Adoration Of The Magi in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 362,500.00 (€ 457,226.47).

Als die Arbeit A Capriccio View Of Rome With The Colosseum And Rebecca And Eliezer By A Statue Of Zeus von Willem van Nieulandt the Younger im Juni 2015 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 22.500,00 (€ 20.172,14) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Willem van Nieulandt the Younger erzielen.
