In November 2011 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters and 19th Century Art, which included the work A mountainous landscape with horseman on a track at sunset; and A mountainous river landscape with horsemen on a rocky path at dawn by Willem van Bemmel. The price achieved of EUR 13,750.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 12,000.00 – 16,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, A mountainous landscape with horseman on a track at sunset; and A mountainous river landscape with horsemen on a rocky path at dawn is the most expensive artwork by Willem van Bemmel that we have observed at auctions so far.
