Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Hilly Landscape With Figures Crossing A Bridge by Willem Troost was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,938.00 (€ 4,398.52). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem Troost achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The garden facade of the Old Palace of the Governor-General at Buitenzorg (Bogor) before the earthquake of 1834, viewed from the far side of the ornamental lake in the botanic gardens in October 2002 with an auction result of HKD 776,750.00 (€ 100,778.62).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A Hilly Landscape With Figures Crossing A Bridge von Willem Troost im Januar 2014 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 5.938,00 (€ 4.398,52) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Willem Troost erzielen.
