The »bidding war« ended at EUR 3,500.00 17% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem Maris achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Herdboy With Donkeys On Scheveningen Beach in October 2006 with an auction result of EUR 50,400.00.

Die Arbeit Grazing Cows At A River von Willem Maris wurde im März 2009 in der Auktion Nineteen to Now - 'Art from the 19th, 20th & 21st centuries' bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 3.500,00 und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Willem Maris erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Herdboy With Donkeys On Scheveningen Beach im Oktober 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 50.400,00.
