Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2016 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Old Masters & 19th Century Art - (including Dutch Impressionism), which included the work Cows grazing in the polder by Willem Maris. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 6,000.00 20% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Willem Maris have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Herdboy With Donkeys On Scheveningen Beach in October 2006 with an auction result of EUR 50,400.00.
