Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Apricots on a branch by Willem Hekking I was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 375.00 (€ 439.77). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem Hekking I achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Eight Watercolours Of Fruits, Vegetables And Nuts in July 2017 with an auction result of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,066.25).
