Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Willem de Famars Testas achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Amsterdam in June 2001. In the PICTURES, WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS auction, the work An Egyptian Boy Leaning Against A White Washed Wall sold for NLG 1,880.00 (€ 903.62) - well above the upper estimate of NLG 900.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem de Famars Testas achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dutch the Well And Sycamore In Ezbekieh Square, Cairo in May 2011 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 12,864.41).
