Die Arbeit In de Scheveningsche Boschjes: the playground in the dunes of Scheveningen von Willem Bastiaan Tholen wurde im Juni 2015 in der Auktion Old Masters & 19th century Art - (including Dutch Impressionism) bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 55.500,00 und damit 59% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Willem Bastiaan Tholen auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Billiards Player im Juli 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 287.500,00 (€ 315.655,88).
