This artwork by Willem Bastiaan Tholen achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Amsterdam in October last year. In the Made in Holland auction, the work A painter at work in a boat, possibly the artist Paul Joseph Constantin Gabriël sold for EUR 17,640.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem Bastiaan Tholen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Billiards Player in July 2019 with an auction result of GBP 287,500.00 (€ 315,655.88).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Willem Bastiaan Tholen erzielte im Oktober letzten Jahres bei Christies in Amsterdam einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Made in Holland wurde die Arbeit A painter at work in a boat, possibly the artist Paul Joseph Constantin Gabriël für EUR 17.640,00 versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von EUR 8.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Willem Bastiaan Tholen erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Billiards Player im Juli 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 287.500,00 (€ 315.655,88).
