Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Calligraphy Couplet In Kaishu by Weng Tonghe was worth HKD 302,400.00 (€ 32,376.66) to a buyer in April 2021. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Paintings at Sothebys in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 90,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Weng Tonghe - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Calligraphic Couplet in Running Script, which sold at auction in November 2017 for HKD 750,000.00 (€ 80,748.87).

Die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet In Kaishu von Weng Tonghe war einem Käufer im April 2021 HKD 302.400,00 (€ 32.376,66) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Fine Chinese Paintings bei Sothebys in Hong Kong erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 90.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Für andere Arbeiten von Weng Tonghe mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Calligraphic Couplet in Running Script beobachtet, die im November 2017 für HKD 750.000,00 (€ 80.748,87) versteigert wurde.
