A top price for Weng Tonghe
When the work Calligraphic Couplet in Running Script by Weng Tonghe was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2017, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 70,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than ten times as high at HKD 750,000.00 (€ 80,748.87). This high result makes Calligraphic Couplet in Running Script the most expensive artwork by Weng Tonghe that we have observed at auctions so far.
