Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Black Edition “Big Table,” from the “Molar” series by Wendell Castle was sold in the Contemporary Art & Design Evening Sale auction at Phillips in New York in March 2013. The price achieved of USD 74,500.00 (€ 58,130.46) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Admittedly, works by Wendell Castle have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Unique three-seater sofa in April 2018 with an auction result of GBP 225,000.00 (€ 256,251.04).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Black Edition “Big Table,” from the “Molar” series von Wendell Castle wurde im März 2013 in der Auktion Contemporary Art & Design Evening Sale bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 74.500,00 (€ 58.130,46) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wendell Castle auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Unique three-seater sofa im April 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 225.000,00 (€ 256.251,04).
