Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Landscape After Wang Meng by Wang Yuanqi was sold in the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings auction at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2021. The price achieved of HKD 2,772,000.00 (€ 296,786.03) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 2,400,000.00 – 3,200,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wang Yuanqi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Landscape Inspired by Huang Gongwang in November 2017 with an auction result of HKD 48,475,000.00 (€ 5,219,068.33).
