Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work A Misty Day Amid Hills And Streams by Wang Yuanqi was worth USD 225,000.00 (€ 200,213.56) to a buyer in September 2016. This price was achieved in the auction The Roy and Marilyn Papp Collection of Chinese Paintings at Sothebys in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 75,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wang Yuanqi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Landscape Inspired by Huang Gongwang in November 2017 with an auction result of HKD 48,475,000.00 (€ 5,219,068.33).
