Upper estimate price exceeded by 33 %.
The work The Thousand Character Classic by Wang Wenzhi was sold in the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy auction at Christies in Paris in June this year. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 239,400.00 (€ 27,973.85), 33% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wang Wenzhi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy After Masters in April this year with an auction result of HKD 516,000.00 (€ 526,936.96).
