It achieved a price of HKD 1,160,000.00 (€ 115,019.22), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 45%. Admittedly, works by Wang Gai have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An Estate By The City Of Qi in September 2016 with an auction result of USD 1,090,000.00 (€ 969,923.47).

Die Arbeit Waterfall in the Wood von Wang Gai kam im November 2012 bei Christies in Hong Kong zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von HKD 1.160.000,00 (€ 115.019,22) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 45%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wang Gai auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit An Estate By The City Of Qi im September 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.090.000,00 (€ 969.923,47).
