Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2005 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES AND WORKS ON PAPER, which included the work Portrait of Sir William Frederick Pollock, Bust-Length, In A Dark Coat And Red Stock by Walter William Ouless. It changed hands for a price of GBP 480.00 (€ 699.07) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Admittedly, works by Walter William Ouless have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Charles Wigley Wicksted (1837-1906), Master of The Ludlow Foxhounds, Half-Length, In Hunting Dress in October 2012 with an auction result of GBP 3,000.00 (€ 3,729.97).

Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 480,00 (€ 699,07) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 300,00 – 500,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Walter William Ouless auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of Charles Wigley Wicksted (1837-1906), Master of The Ludlow Foxhounds, Half-Length, In Hunting Dress im Oktober 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.000,00 (€ 3.729,97).
