Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A quiet spot on the water at Norbury, Surrey; and Chart Lane, Dorking by Walter Wallor Caffyn was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2005. It changed hands for a price of GBP 6,600.00 (€ 9,743.67) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Walter Wallor Caffyn - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fittleworth Lock on the Rother, Sussex, which sold at auction in June 2000 for GBP 14,100.00 (€ 22,350.24).

Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 6.600,00 (€ 9.743,67) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Walter Wallor Caffyn mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Fittleworth Lock on the Rother, Sussex beobachtet, die im Juni 2000 für GBP 14.100,00 (€ 22.350,24) versteigert wurde.
