In June 2016 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Pennsylvania Hills, Winter by Walter Emerson Baum. The result of USD 15,000.00 (€ 13,596.81) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Walter Emerson Baum - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Pink House, which sold at auction in November 2007 for USD 73,000.00 (€ 49,700.44).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Juni 2016 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Pennsylvania Hills, Winter von Walter Emerson Baum zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 15.000,00 (€ 13.596,81) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Walter Emerson Baum mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Pink House beobachtet, die im November 2007 für USD 73.000,00 (€ 49.700,44) versteigert wurde.
