Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work In the Coe, Glencoe by W. Richards was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 235.00 (€ 343.24). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by W. Richards - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A peaceful cottage by a river; and A tranquil cottage by a lake, which sold at auction in October 2007 for GBP 812.50 (€ 1,166.80).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit In the Coe, Glencoe von W. Richards im Oktober 2003 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 235,00 (€ 343,24) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von W. Richards mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A peaceful cottage by a river; and A tranquil cottage by a lake beobachtet, die im Oktober 2007 für GBP 812,50 (€ 1.166,80) versteigert wurde.
