Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Hamlet on the Roding, Essex; and A figure on the way home, the Roding, Essex by W. Richards was sold in the British and Continental Pictures auction at Christies in London in November 2002. The price achieved of GBP 352.50 (€ 552.00) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 400.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by W. Richards - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A peaceful cottage by a river; and A tranquil cottage by a lake, which sold at auction in October 2007 for GBP 812.50 (€ 1,166.80).
