This price was achieved in the auction Classic Photographs at Sothebys in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 10,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by W. Eugene Smith; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Walk to Paradise Garden, 1946 sold at auction in October 2016 with the realized price of USD 52,500.00 (€ 47,892.72).
