Island of Moorea from Tahiti (illustrated) by William Alister Macdonald was sold in the MARITIME PICTURES auction at Christies in London in May 2005. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,680.00 (€ 2,480.21), 40% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Alister Macdonald - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Views of the Island of Tahiti, which sold at auction in April 2005 for GBP 4,800.00 (€ 7,104.70).

Island of Moorea from Tahiti (illustrated) von William Alister Macdonald wurde im Mai 2005 in der Auktion MARITIME PICTURES bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.680,00 (€ 2.480,21) und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von William Alister Macdonald mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Views of the Island of Tahiti beobachtet, die im April 2005 für GBP 4.800,00 (€ 7.104,70) versteigert wurde.
