Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Vladimir Makovsky achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in November 2011. In the Russian Paintings auction, the work Visiting The Cook sold for GBP 58,850.00 (€ 68,701.35) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Vladimir Makovsky achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Rag Market In Moscow in November 2008 with an auction result of GBP 1,329,250.00 (€ 1,607,163.15).
