In November 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Russian Art Evening, which included the work The Rag Market In Moscow by Vladimir Makovsky. The price achieved of GBP 1,329,250.00 (€ 1,607,163.15) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Rag Market In Moscow is the most expensive artwork by Vladimir Makovsky that we have observed at auctions so far.
