Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
The work A Country Market by Vladimir Makovsky was worth GBP 30,000.00 (€ 36,009.79) to a buyer in June 2016. This price was achieved in the auction Russian Pictures at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Vladimir Makovsky achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Rag Market In Moscow in November 2008 with an auction result of GBP 1,329,250.00 (€ 1,607,163.15).
