Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Fishing Boats Off A Rocky Coastline, A Paddle Steamer Beyond by Vilhelm Melbye was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 7,638.48) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Vilhelm Melbye have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Spanish felucca, British warships and other shipping in the Mediterranean off Gibraltar in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 43,250.00 (€ 53,887.60).

Die Arbeit Fishing Boats Off A Rocky Coastline, A Paddle Steamer Beyond von Vilhelm Melbye kam im Dezember 2015 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 5.625,00 (€ 7.638,48) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Vilhelm Melbye auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Spanish felucca, British warships and other shipping in the Mediterranean off Gibraltar im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 43.250,00 (€ 53.887,60).
