Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When this work without title by Victor Pivovarov was auctioned at Sothebys in London in September 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 12,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 40,320.00 (€ 46,912.88). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Victor Pivovarov - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Triptych with a Snake, which sold at auction in October 2008 for GBP 145,250.00 (€ 185,141.64).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit ohne Titel von Victor Pivovarov im September 2021 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 12.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 40.320,00 (€ 46.912,88) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Victor Pivovarov mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Triptych with a Snake beobachtet, die im Oktober 2008 für GBP 145.250,00 (€ 185.141,64) versteigert wurde.
