This artwork by Victor Weisz achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in March 2018. In the The Political Cartoon Collection of Jeffrey Archer auction, the work ‘A Refugee From Socialist Persecution’ sold for GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,131.03) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Victor Weisz; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Winston Churchill Is Conquering The House sold at auction in March 2018 with the realized price of GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,700.30).
