Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Birth Of St John The Baptist by Ventura Salimbeni was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 23,750.00 (€ 16,002.96). Admittedly, works by Ventura Salimbeni have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work St Clare Repulsing The Saracens From Assisi in January 2008 with an auction result of USD 193,000.00 (€ 130,045.15).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Birth Of St John The Baptist von Ventura Salimbeni im Januar 2008 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 23.750,00 (€ 16.002,96) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ventura Salimbeni auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit St Clare Repulsing The Saracens From Assisi im Januar 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 193.000,00 (€ 130.045,15).
