Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Kitagawa Utamaro II could be acquired at Christies in London in June 2000 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Oriental Paintings and Prints auction, the work oban tate-e changed hands for GBP 176.25 (€ 279.38) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kitagawa Utamaro II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Famous Product: Mount Fuji White Sake (Meibutsu fuji no shirozake) in June 2017 with an auction result of GBP 10,625.00 (€ 12,099.89).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Kitagawa Utamaro II konnte im Juni 2000 bei Christies in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Oriental Paintings and Prints wechselte die Arbeit oban tate-e für GBP 176,25 (€ 279,38) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 200,00 – 300,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kitagawa Utamaro II erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Famous Product: Mount Fuji White Sake (Meibutsu fuji no shirozake) im Juni 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 10.625,00 (€ 12.099,89).
