The work Hitomoto from the the house of Daimonjiya by Utagawa Toyokuni was sold in the Japanese and Korean Art Including the Collection of David and Nayda Utterberg auction at Christies in New York in March last year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 7,560.00 (€ 6,815.11), 26% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Utagawa Toyokuni have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Edo Period (1615-1868), Early 19Th Century in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 44,062.50 (€ 38,060.38).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 26 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Hitomoto from the the house of Daimonjiya von Utagawa Toyokuni wurde im März letzten Jahres in der Auktion Japanese and Korean Art Including the Collection of David and Nayda Utterberg bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 7.560,00 (€ 6.815,11) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Utagawa Toyokuni auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Edo Period (1615-1868), Early 19Th Century im September 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 44.062,50 (€ 38.060,38).
