Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Trading Among Jungle People by U Ngwe Gaing was auctioned at Bonhams in Hong Kong in April 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 9,999.83 (€ 1,177.52). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by U Ngwe Gaing achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Elephants And Trucks With Logs in October 2017 with an auction result of HKD 600,000.00 (€ 66,037.09).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Trading Among Jungle People von U Ngwe Gaing im April 2020 bei Bonhams in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 9.999,83 (€ 1.177,52) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von U Ngwe Gaing erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Elephants And Trucks With Logs im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 600.000,00 (€ 66.037,09).
