Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2003 Christies in London held the auction Japanese Art & Design, which included the work Picture of ballooning in Ueno park: the intrepid Englishman Spencer descending by parachute on 24 November 1890 by Toyohara Chikanobu. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,792.50 (€ 2,575.92) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,500.00 – 1,800.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Toyohara Chikanobu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Scenes of beauties and farm life, which sold at auction in December 2021 for GBP 5,670.00 (€ 6,763.12).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion Japanese Art & Design durch, in der auch die Arbeit Picture of ballooning in Ueno park: the intrepid Englishman Spencer descending by parachute on 24 November 1890 von Toyohara Chikanobu zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.792,50 (€ 2.575,92) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 1.800,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Toyohara Chikanobu mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Scenes of beauties and farm life beobachtet, die im Dezember 2021 für GBP 5.670,00 (€ 6.763,12) versteigert wurde.
