This artwork by Torii Kotondo achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March 2021. In the Japanese and Korean Art auction, the work Momiji (Maple Leaves) sold for USD 17,500.00 (€ 14,902.50) - well above the upper estimate of USD 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Torii Kotondo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Kamisuki (Combing the hair) in March 2019 with an auction result of USD 72,500.00 (€ 64,570.72).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Torii Kotondo erzielte im März 2021 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Japanese and Korean Art wurde die Arbeit Momiji (Maple Leaves) für USD 17.500,00 (€ 14.902,50) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 8.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Torii Kotondo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Kamisuki (Combing the hair) im März 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 72.500,00 (€ 64.570,72).
