Auction result well in line with expectations
In March last year Christies in New York held the auction Japanese and Korean Art Including the Collection of David and Nayda Utterberg, which included the work Kamisuki (Combing Hair) by Torii Kotondo. The price achieved of USD 2,394.00 (€ 2,158.12) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Torii Kotondo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Kamisuki (Combing the hair) in March 2019 with an auction result of USD 72,500.00 (€ 64,570.72).
