Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Make-up (Kesho) by Torii Kotondo was sold in the From Artist to Woodblock: Japanese Prints auction at Christies in London in June 2020. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,500.00 (€ 3,854.64), 17% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Torii Kotondo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Kamisuki (Combing the hair) in March 2019 with an auction result of USD 72,500.00 (€ 64,570.72).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Make-up (Kesho) von Torii Kotondo wurde im Juni 2020 in der Auktion From Artist to Woodblock: Japanese Prints bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.500,00 (€ 3.854,64) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Torii Kotondo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Kamisuki (Combing the hair) im März 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 72.500,00 (€ 64.570,72).
