Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Waterfall by Tony Wong was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in November 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 60,000.00 – 120,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 50,400.00 (€ 5,603.97). Admittedly, works by Tony Wong have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Chameleon in November 2007 with an auction result of HKD 463,500.00 (€ 40,518.38).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Waterfall von Tony Wong im November 2021 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 60.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 50.400,00 (€ 5.603,97) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Tony Wong auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Chameleon im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 463.500,00 (€ 40.518,38).
