Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2018 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern Asian Art, which included the work Sleep by Tony Wong. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 35,000.00 – 55,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 37,500.00 (€ 4,222.56) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Tony Wong have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Chameleon in November 2007 with an auction result of HKD 463,500.00 (€ 40,518.38).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2018 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sleep von Tony Wong zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 35.000,00 – 55.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 37.500,00 (€ 4.222,56) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Tony Wong auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Chameleon im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 463.500,00 (€ 40.518,38).
