Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Tony Smith could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in September 2018 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Contemporary Art Online auction, the work Untitled, 1961 changed hands for USD 13,750.00 (€ 11,831.01) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tony Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work For J.C. in May 2011 with an auction result of USD 530,500.00 (€ 369,017.81).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Tony Smith konnte im September 2018 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Online wechselte die Arbeit Untitled, 1961 für USD 13.750,00 (€ 11.831,01) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Tony Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit For J.C. im Mai 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 530.500,00 (€ 369.017,81).
