In the Old Master and British Paintings auction, the work The bay of Naples from the Castel dell'Ovo with the Riviera di Chiaia and Posillipo beyond sold for GBP 52,500.00 (€ 61,944.84) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Tommaso Ruiz - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Veduta del Porto di Napoli con il Ponte Nuovo, l'edificio dell'Immacolatella e la lanterna del Molo, which sold at auction in December 2001 for ITL 208,250,000.00 (€ 187,169.98).
