Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Dollar Bill Back) by Tom Friedman was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,250.00 (€ 2,946.78). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tom Friedman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in November 2006 with an auction result of USD 856,000.00 (€ 645,501.85).
