In September 2001 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings, which included the work Sketch in South Devon by Tom Clough. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 705.00 (€ 1,138.27), 41% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Tom Clough have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Monarchs of the Beechwood in June 2010 with an auction result of GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,320.41).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 41 % übertroffen
Im September 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sketch in South Devon von Tom Clough zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 705,00 (€ 1.138,27) und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Tom Clough auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Monarchs of the Beechwood im Juni 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.375,00 (€ 5.320,41).
