Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Roses, Mexico by Tina Modotti was auctioned at Phillips in New York in April 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 220,000.00 (€ 196,411.03). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Tina Modotti - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Telephone Wires, Mexico, which sold at auction in April 2019 for USD 692,000.00 (€ 617,801.98).
