This artwork by Timur Novikov achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in November 2013. In the Contemporary East auction, the work Sea sold for GBP 37,500.00 (€ 45,126.23) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 20,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Timur Novikov; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Tank Attack sold at auction in November 2013 with the realized price of GBP 68,500.00 (€ 82,430.58).
